Audi entered Formula 1 as a works team in 2026 after acquiring Sauber. The Hinwil-based outfit pairs Nico Hulkenberg with Gabriel Bortoleto in the R26, combining its chassis with an Audi power unit.

Audi arrived with an extensive record in other forms of motorsport. Its F1 plans began with a power-unit programme announced in 2022, then expanded into the purchase of an established team and a full works entry.
